Questions I was asked:

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? (the most annoying question on earth, I know)

Interesting question – and a bloody hard one.  I’m not really sure.  I would like to be either an actor or run for office (or both?), but not sure if THAT’ll happen in 5 years.

If you could go to the moon for free, would you?

Probably.  I’ve long had a moderate fascination with going to space (although I’ve no intention of becoming an astronaut).

What is your biggest fear?

Hmm…  that’s a tough one.  At the moment, it’s probably acrophobia – fear of heights.

In what do you find yourself more brave than others?

Um… I can’t really think of anything.  Perhaps it’s just my naturally modest and humble personality.

[Before ultra-religious nuts get on my case about the above comments: ever heard of sarcasm?]

If you could have one non pet as a pet (and it wouldn’t be dangerous), what would it be?

Assuming it was/could be tamed, a dinosaur.  They would make great guard dogs, don’t you think?  Just try and imagine it from the initially unsuspecting burglar’s perspective as he’s breaking into my house in the middle of the night…

What makes you peaceful and what makes you nervous?

I suppose that at times reading and listening to music can make me peaceful.

Talking on the phone/answering phone calls makes me nervous.

What is one of your qualities which could be both positive for most but negative for others?

Um… not sure.  My swearing?

Which country would you visit just for the food?

Italy.  I’m a big fan of lasagne, and like the sound of Italian foods.

Do you remember your first kiss? Care to share the story?

I’ve got a confession: I’ve never kissed.

What was your most embarrassing moment?

Apparently, when I was 5, I asked a 9-year-old girl at school to marry me.  Thankfully, to this day I have no memory of that event (although apparently everyone else does – a teacher told).  Anyway, when I was 11, we visited the family of that girl.  And she brought it up.  And I was in tears, insisting it never happened (well, I sincerely DIDN’T remember, and still don’t – although I’ve stopped denying it took place).  And everyone was having a good laugh.  Oh, the indignity…

And then one day, shortly after we got home, we were all sitting in the lounge, and I was folding and putting away the washing (come to think of it, that’s what I’m supposed to be doing right now…) when Dad brought it up with “Now you know to be careful what you say” (good-naturedly).  And my little brother, a little slow on the uptake, then asked, “What, do you mean Amelia?”  (Amelia was a girl I was in love with at school when I was young – after the 9-year-old; I’d received a bit of teasing over the years from my two oldest – but still younger than me – siblings).  Understandably, I was mortified.  I have a habit when embarrassed of as-nonchalantly-as-I-can-manage walking out the back.  That, of course, wasn’t really an option here.  I simply looked the other way.

And then, about 3 years later, my Dad and brother (the one who asked about Amelia) were helping some friends move to another town.  One day, on the way to the town, my brother out of the blue asked Dad if a 5-year-old asking someone to marry him was a proposal (I think he and i may have been arguing over that point).  Dad said it was – and then asked why he was asking.  Oh, how I wished cars had holes to crawl into (I literally did).  I seem to recall one of Dad’s jokes being “When are we invited to the wedding?”  *Groan in utter embarrassment*  And then (I think this was on the same day), on the way home, when we stopped to get a bite, the subject of prices came up.  And I stated that when I was young, I thought “dear” meant “cheap”.  “Was that when you were making proposals?” was Dad’s response.

I was the only one not laughing.

Do you prefer blinds or curtains?

Curtains.

      1. Haha
There’s a 4yr old kid for whom I take tuition class.
She was impressed by a 10yr old guy and said him
“I love you.. please please marry me brother” 😂😂
I was like WTF are you talking😨😨
She said 😓 it’s my life you don’t involve in this!!!
😂😂 Your incident reminded me of that kid.
Have a happy day ahead 🎁😄

  1. Congrats brother! That’s funny about phone calls! I don’t like getting calls either. I get a robot call about google business listings every day! 🙂 Love the bit about a dinosaur for a pet too. That would definitely stop a burglar, especially if you could have a pet Velociraptor! God bless!

  2. I’m not the biggest fan of phone calls either. Yet I’ve been missing the sound of peoples voices so much that I’m considering making it a goal of mine to try picking up the phone…or Skyping.
