Restored English Translation of Matthew: Chapter 3

Today, I present my Restored English Translation (RET) of Beresheet (Genesis) chapter 3.  As usual, it contains the Hebrew names, with a glossary of them.  This translation is based on the original Hebrew, so there are some (mostly small) differences to conventional translations.

(To clarify: this is MY OWN translation.)

CHAPTER 3

1 In those days Yochanan the Baptist was called, preaching in the wilderness of Yehudah, 2 and saying, “Make repentance! For the Kingdom of Heaven is offered to come.” 3 For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Yeshayahu, saying, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, “Prepare the way of YEHOVAH, make a straight path in the desert for our ELOHIM.” 4 And Yochanan had a garment of camel’s hair, and a leather belt about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey. 5 Then Yerushalayim and all Yehudah, and all the region round about the Yarden, went out to him, 6 and were baptised of him in the Yarden, confessing their sins.

7 But when he saw many of the Prushim and Tsadukim come to his baptism, he said to them, “Oh generation of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the heated wrath to come? 8 Bring forth fruits in keeping with repentance! 9 And do not think to say within yourselves, ‘We have Avraham as our ancestor.’ For I say to you, that ELOHIM is able to raise up children to Avraham from these stones. 10 And already the axe is laid to the root of the trees; and every tree which does not produce good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 11 I indeed baptise you with water to repentance; but He who comes after me is mightier than I, Whose shoes I am not worthy to bear. He will baptise you with the fire of the RUACH HA’KODESH, 12 Whose winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will thoroughly purge His floor, and gather His wheat into the granary; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. 13 Then YEHOSHUA came from Galil to the Yarden to Yochanan, to be baptised by him. 14 But Yochanan forbade him, saying, “I have need to be baptized of You, and You come to me?” 15 And YEHOSHUA answered him and said, “Permit it now. For it is an obligation for us to fulfil all righteousness.” Then he permitted Him. 16 And YEHOSHUA, when He was baptised, went up straightway out of the water. And behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and the RUACH of ELOHIM descending like a dove, and rested upon Him.

17 And behold! A voice from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in Whom My Soul is well pleased.”
